Sanctuary and Serenity

Community Town Hall

Posted on: April 5, 2010

Join us at a Community Town Hall to learn more about food and income security on April 13th, 2010 at 7 pm at Artscape Wychwood Barns, Barn 2, 601 Christie Street.

Do the Math participants will share their experiences and discuss how these issues affect our communities. Together we will build strategies that will continue to put pressure on the provincial government to address the gross inadequacies of social assistance rates.

One Food Bank Hamper!

One Week!

Who Will Run Out First?

Why are these Torontonians trying to survive on peanut butter and tuna?

Executive Director Nick Saul of The Stop will be joined by ten prominent Torontonians, including author Naomi Klein, former head of Alliance Atlantis Michael MacMillan, Councillor Joe Mihevc, musician Damian Abraham and Toronto Medical Officer of Health Dr. David McKeown. This group will gather at The Stop to pick up a standard food bank hamper. They will then spend the rest of the week living exclusively off its contents, a dietary experiment that will dramatically demonstrate the impossible choices faced by thousands of Ontarians every day.  On April 13th, they meet to report!!
